Our pup, Snow, was having significant reactivity problems making it impossible to go on a walk without excessive (and aggressive) barking and lunging at other dogs. We tried a few trainers and saw no progress.
Then we came across William and Troubles. We met in a park with our dogs triggers all around and William showed us how to manage the behavior in a very digestible way. After 3 sessions with William (and his great puppy playdates!) we have seen massive improvements and walk often. She still has a ways to go, but we now have the tools and knowledge necessary to make those steps forwards.

I stumbled upon Troubles Behind Me Canine Training while browsing the internet, and Im beyond happy that I found them! We had our initial online consult via zoom and went over our concerns with our dog Chewi and came up with a game plan! From there, we met at the park and started putting the pieces together! Troubles, the amazing right hand dog is there to help as well! I cant say enough about how much William has helped us out! Not to mention, Chewi is such a huge fan of both William and Troubles!

Less than 48 hours after adopting a shelter dog, both my husband and I felt completely overwhelmed. Our baby was FAR more difficult than the shelter described and we werent sure how to help her. Shes extremely reactive/ doesnt love dogs, and definitely is no fan of humans. We got on the books immediately with William and he did an emergency zoom session within hours of us reaching out.
William and his wonderful family of dogs have helped us ALL out tremendously. Hes not just taught Daisy to keep her cool, but he also taught both my husband and I (well, predominately me) how to be the calm in the storm that Daisy needs.
We cant thank William and his pack enough for all of the assistance theyve given us. Thanks to them, were well on our way to having a less reactive pup whos loving her new life! 15/10 recommend his services!!!

If you would like a true balanced dog trainer Troubles Behind me Canine Training is the place to go. From the online consul, the one on one training and the group play dates the training is always professional and useful. You will not spend hours giving your dog tons of treats but will learn how to reward your dog with out treats and how to properly correct your dog if needed
My very reactive dog wouldnt get ten feet from Troubles without reacting, let alone let me near him without her hackles going up and her growling. William told me by Gypsys third session shell stand next to Troubles no problem. I laughed! I honestly thought there was no way. Sure enough, third session Gypsy walked next to Troubles and did NOT REACT . William is very good at explaining his methods and why dogs do what they do, and humans too. William helped me relax, which in turn helped my dog. Training goes both way. Troubles, as ironic as it sounds, is the perfect dog to teach Gypsy to chill out. Even when Gypsy over-reacted, Troubles paid her no attention. I highly recommend Troubles and William to everyone I know

William really works on helping you understand how you and your dog need to communicate together. Our girl Korra is so much less anxious after just a few months of training and shes learning so much. And my wife and I are learning how to communicate to Korra much better. William also uses his own dogs for socialization and training. Its been awesome watching our pup mature.

From the very first meeting with William I was super impressed. We met over zoom and he talked in depth about his training methods and provided lots of references. What I liked most was that his training is positive but not treat driven. I was somewhat skeptical about not using treats in training, but after our first session my mind was changed. We have a 70 lb rescue pitbull puppy that is going to grow to be 100 plus. It's important to us but he's well behaved and controllable on a leash. After our first session with William, we were both we're confident and knowledgeable about how to get our dogs attention. We had three sessions and total and we'll probably do a follow-up fourth one. We thoroughly enjoyed the puppy play date but he set. It was a great experience to have a trainer navigate the puppies meeting. I highly recommend William. If you have a rescue dog, Troubles Behind Me will do that. William knows dogs and especially rescues. My rescue, Chase, spent 7 years in a puppy mill cage and knew nothing about anything. After one on-line session with me and one month following William's instructions, Chase sits while I put on his lease and is happily exploring the outside world.

My little rescue chihuahua was experiencing separation anxiety when I would leave the house. Everything I tried wasn't helping, and I was worried he was going to hurt himself. Thank goodness I found William, who was patient with my dog. He explained all of his methods thoroughly with lots of storytelling and training for me, as my dog's human, too! My little pup is feeling so much more confident, and he's doing much better when I have to leave the house. Thanks, William and Troubles!

William and Troubles helped me with Roxie, my very hyperactive puppy. William was easy to work with, knowledgeable and professional. After only 2 classes I was able to get Roxie to focus and follow commands. Troubles is a pretty funny old dog that comes to trainings and shows the trainees how it's done. Together the make for a very good training team. Thanks for your help William!!

What can I say? William knows his stuff. He uses evidence-backed practices and really takes the time to explain everything that he does, including why dogs behave the way they do. My (very) recent rescue pup, Zuke, and I worked with William and Troubles for 3 sessions over 6 weeks and what a difference it has made. Zuke is a very energetic pup who had a rough start in life and was in and out of the shelter a few times before he found me. We worked on basic obedience/leash training and strategies to help manage his anxious and energetic behaviors. I can finally walk down any street without him lunging and barking at passing cars, and car rides are a much more enjoyable experience for all. Zuke and I are off to a great start thanks to Troubles Behind Me and I highly recommend their services to anyone looking for a little help with their pup!

William is the type of person who you know just "gets" dogs. We've been working with him for our rescue, Bear, for a few months now and we've seen noticeable improvement. William is professional, does a great job with offering video and reading resources, and is prompt and attentive. Both owner and pup will learn a lot during his sessions.
Highlights include:
- William's whole pack (I think 6 dogs in total) are all well behaved, sociable and fun-loving. I think the proof is in his own dogs that he and his partner train.
I've owned several dogs throughout my life and have had the opportunity to meet and work with a few trainers. I've never met anyone like William. He helps me continue to understand more clearly how dogs think and why. It's not just a 'going through the motions' kind of training with William. Your dog will learn more in a shorter period of time when you have a clear understanding of who your dog is. William, thank you very much!

Sadie and Cruzita have had rocky relationship. Both dogs are rescues, Sadie has been with us for 7 years and Cruz has been with us a year. We had trouble in the beginning with them wanting to tear each up. That wore out after a few months, but started again recently. We did a google search and found William and Troubles. We contacted William and he responded almost immediately. He was able to give us some great tips online and we were able to schedule a time to start working with him. His advice and training techniques have done the trick. After our online session and two in person sessions we are all living peacefully in our home!!

William, Troubles and the pack were fantastic. We were considering sending our new rescue pup away to be trained on an ecollar for seemed like dog aggression. about 6 sessions over 3 months with William, Troubles and Pops, with some work on our end and our dog is now walking and playing with other dogs like we always wanted. William was always professional, prompt and reliable. Can not say enough good things about this crew.

Fantastic one-on-one training services even set up an initial online consultation session to go over training needs and recommendations! My 2-year old lab is MUCH better on walks and sit-and-stay commandswill work on more advanced techniques with William in future sessions-Absolutely worth the time and money :)

My dog had some behavioral issues (jumping at me when he wanted attention, barking, going to the bathroom in the house only while I was home) and William taught me the tools I needed to rein my dog in and show him that I am in charge. Honestly, after just one visit with William I saw a remarkable change. My dog is officially potty trained and is so calm. I have worked with other dog trainers in the past and no one was able to help me before!

Harper is an anxious pup who gets very nervous around new people especially when they were entering into our home. William has been helping us teach Harper what to do in situations to not get nervous and to listen to us when she is unsure what to do. We have had a few different trainers and have not had much success. In only a few sessions with William we have already seen great improvements!!! I highly recommend William to anyone looking for someone to help with their anxious dog. I am excited to continue to see our girls transformation with more sessions with william.

William has worked with my three year old rescue and I for a little under a year. Not only are his training methods incredibly powerful, he also understands dogs and people very well. I cannot thank William enough for his help in getting my dog and I. His method is to train the human to train their dog. This helped strengthen my bond with my dog and helped me understand her better. I couldn't recommend him enough!!!!
William was amazing with my fear aggressive foster dog. He came to evaluate him and knew exactly what type of training he needed. Besides coming over and diligently helping us train him, I could reach out to him at anytime with any questions or occurrences that came up with this troubled dog. I highly recommend William!!!

After adopting my pup, William helped both of us settle in to a new routine. He provided the tools and tips in order to help my dog stop biting and barking at home, and learn how to settle, and also how to become a pro on the leash. When searching for someone to help us with our aggressive corgi, we found it difficult to find someone who was willing to deal with this particular issue, until we found William! He observed our 2 male corgis, and quickly recognized our other corgis antagonizing behavior. He attentively worked with us over 3 sessions, teaching us simple behavioral modifications to use in order to create a better environment for everyone in our house. William was persistent with our pups, even when they would attempt to bite.
Its amazing how such simple alterations in our everyday life have changed our corgis habits. Our antagonizer is able to listen to commands better, without getting crazy on us, especially when other dogs are present. And our aggressive corgi is able to focus his attention to commands when he starts to show signs of aggression. We are still working on some food & object aggression, but it has improved significantly! We thought we were doing everything possible before, but William taught us the right way to perform commands, which was life changing.
We still have some work to do, but we feel very confident with the tools and advice that we received from William. He put our minds at ease, as we now have hope for something that we thought was beyond repair. He is basically Cesar Milan in a taller version! Lol! Our boys are the center of our world, and the improvement has been wonderful for all of us. Thank you William & Troubles for all of your help! The boys and I are forever grateful!

We have a dog at home, that was giving us a lot of trouble (barking at the door, separation anxiety, biting, fear aggression, etc). After working with William and Troubles it's like we have a new dog! He's a happy puppy now and we feel more confident as dog parents. Don't let this cute face fool you -- this little 17 pound rescue was quite a nightmare before working with William and Trouble. Because of what I learned, and how I was trained, this little guy is now a champ -- a great companion dog for our family and with my other dog. Truly a miracle to see the transformation from William and Troubles.

William did an amazing job with helping Madison, our Schnoodle, transition from a house in the suburbs to apartment living in NYC. He is dedicated, well-informed about dog behavior, but most of all was patient and made sure we were taught how we needed to take control and redirect her energy. Barking is no longer an issue. We have a much calmer and happier home, with humans leading, and Madison happily obeying. In one in-home session, and one outdoor leash walking and stair climbing session, Madison is a new dog!

William is amazing. Our dog had some behavioral issues and had bitten two dog walkers! Gulp. He showed us how to modify our behavior so that our sweet pup felt safe and in a very short time our fur baby was almost back to the loving puppy we knew and love. There was significant improvement after just the first consultation. It is very obvious that William knows what he is doing, has an intuitive understanding of animals, and has also educated himself a LOT on the subject. He really is a pro and we have recommended him to friends many times. Highly recommend.

William really connects with me so that Im able to maximize the obedience training of my sweet but overly frisky dachshund puppy Sadie. He Is successfully training me and my pooch with simple, easy to follow instructions and commands and gentle but firm touches without the use of treats or extraneous reinforcement. This is making my time with Sadie more fun and more relaxing which gives me more time to show my love for her without having to discipline her. William is a gem!

"My one-year-old corgi, which I'd had since she was two months old, suddenly developed some serious behavior problems just after her first year. She was unwilling to walk on a leash; corgis are not only much stronger than their size, but they are extremely headstrong, and she would alternatively dig in her feet, lie on the pavement, and even roll over on her back and dare me to drag her.
Walking with her had become such a consistent trial, three times a day, every day, that I was at the point of seriously considering placing her in another home. I was directed to William, and, in essence, he gave me back my dog and our relationship. In only three sessions, spaced out over about a month, I was able to reassert control over the dog.
William was extremely patient, both with her and with me. He has a myriad of different techniques and approaches, depending on the dog, the owner, and the situation, and above all, your goals, which he helped to establish for us, are his goals.
One example, after the first lesson, she disappeared behind a row of hedges and led me a merry - to her - chase to find her. When I discussed this with William on the next session, rather than just dealing with it quote theoretically or in the abstract, we walked together to the part of the park - exactly where she disappeared - and went through training on that very spot.
I bump into William frequently, and he's always more than open to listen and give advice. He's not looking to create a need for additional sessions or additional training which are not necessary, and most of all, quite obviously, my dog loves to see him.
I can't recommend William highly enough. I feel he gave me back my relationship with my dog."

William and Trouble are great. Rico is a anxious dog that gets nervous around new people and dogs. William helped me learn to manage situations to help Rico feel more comfortable. Trouble helped Rico be more comfortable around dogs. (Especially larger dogs.)

Worked with Troubles Behind Me 3 weeks ago for my 11 year old Yorkshire Terrier. William & Troubles were great and took their time to understand the fear based aggression issues my dog was having and offer suggestions and ways to change this behavior. He didn't try to sell me follow up sessions and was honest in that he thought our 1 session should fix the issue. He has checked in via email weekly and has even offered more assistance. He truly cares about people and their pets and is not out to just take your money. I would absolutely recommend him to a friend and wouldn't hesitate to use him again should the need arise.

William is patient and very informative. He takes to time to explain and reinforce lessons with you. He is very flexible with schedules and always has the best attitude!
